Phyro-Giants! opened at the Third Street Theater in October 2001. Since then it has been peformed in Chicago, Boston, New York, St. Louis, Tampa, Madison, Owensboro and several other cities. New productions are on the way in 2006.
The play is one scene with no breaks. There are no internal light cues or sound cues and almost no blocking.
The set may consist of only a table, four chairs, wine and dessert.
Running time is roughly 1 hour and 10 minutes. I have debated with some people as to whether or not this counts as a "full play". I must confess that I wrote this play, in part, to reach people who usually hate plays. These people, and even people who love plays, are often relieved when they can leave the theater after an hour, then go on to the second part of their evening, be that dinner, drinks, or the type of long and involved post-show conversation that Phyro-Giants! usually inspires. If you're interested in producing this play, bear in mind that as long as you don't charge Broadway ticket prices, people will be delighted not to have to sit through Broadway running times, and that 1 hour and 10 minutes can be an ideal length for a "full play."
